Earlier this year, we were delighted to announce that BPE Solicitors have signed up as corporate partner to Macmillan Cancer Support, for the next two years. Part of our commitment is to raise enough money to fund the training and employment of two new Macmillan nurses. Led by Partner, Rob Bryan, the BPE team will this July, be walking the 297 miles of the Macmillan Way, aiming to raise the £108,000 needed.

Rob was inspired to launch the campaign after his mother and a very close friend were cared for by Macmillan nurses. He witnessed first hand the support they received, and was inspired to act.

The renowned Macmillan Way is the second longest (after the South West Coast path) public footpath and one of the toughest charity ‘challenges’ in the country. The 297 mile Way twists and turns (as the map on this site shows) from the east coast at Boston, Lincolnshire to Abbotsbury on the Dorset coast, across country paths, roads and bridleways. Rob, friends, family, colleagues of, and clients from, BPE Solicitors will be trekking for 23 days from Saturday 1st July to Saturday 29th July, up to 17 miles a day, come rain or shine, with very few rest stops. This is the first time that so many individuals from across the country have joined together to walk The Way.

Support through treatment and beyond

It costs £54,000 to train and employ a Macmillan nurse during their first year of employment. All of these costs are met by the charity, an even more daunting prospect when you consider there are more than 350,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed each year.

Macmillan Cancer Support ensure no-one faces cancer alone. From the moment a person is diagnosed, through to treatment and beyond, the charity is a constant source of support, giving patients energy and inspiration to be able to control their lives.

Your support, at whatever level, would be hugely appreciated. Please make a difference by joining us on the Macmillan Way and/or providing sponsorship. If all of our sponsors can provide at least £29.70 (10 pence per mile of The Way) we are confident that, when combined with our corporate sponsors, we can raise the £108,000 needed and start to make a difference to those suffering from cancer. Please find out how you can help.
